Here you will find simple thoughts, tips and meditations for the “Everyday” person.
Why Mountain Meditations?
We love mountains for what they represent. Strength. Steadfastness. Refuge. Tranquility.
No one needs to be told how stressful life is in the 21st Century. And it just keeps getting busier and busier. Hurry, worry and rush are the norm. Like the proverbial roll of toilet paper, the closer you get to the end, the faster it goes!
This “unnatural” stress is creating a sickness, not just in the individual, but in our society as a whole.
We are losing our sense of connectedness, with Nature and with each other, with our sense of meaning and purpose.
We’ve gotten away from the core of who we are and where we came from.
We are literally killing ourselves through unneeded worry, mindlessness and stress.
The answer? Mountain Meditations.
Over time we have gone inside, shut the doors and windows and have gradually alienated ourselves from the beautiful natural world. From the smell of pine and the feel of its rough bark, the sound of the wind through the trees and the forest streams, as well as the sight of the calm, azure sky filled with white, dreamy clouds overhead. We have cut off the ties to our source of joy, security and well-being – Mother Nature.
Think about it, in the Garden ~ Love and Simplicity. Joy and Tranquility. In the wake of the “progress” and smog of the Industrial Revolution…well, you get the picture.
The Naturalists like Thoreau, Emerson, Whitman and John Muir were deeply connected to the Source of calm and depth, balance and purpose through Nature. This wasn’t by accident. They were aware and purposeful in putting themselves in the natural environment.
Mountain Meditations is a return to the Natural. A daily dose of sanity, and “A Moment of “Ahhh…” to help restore and renew the soul within.
Today, while the idea of meditation is becoming more and more popular, for the average person, it is still a somewhat strange, mysterious and “unattainable” concept.
Perhaps you’ve felt this way or encountered someone who has ~
· “I’ve tried it, but it’s just too hard for me.”
· “I get antsy just sitting there doing nothing when there’s so much important stuff I need to be doing!”
· “What’s the point?”
· “I fall asleep when I try to meditate.”
· “It seems weird. I’m not really into all that “Woo woo” stuff.
· “It’s just not for me…”
This is a typical response from us ordinary human beings who have been told we need to climb a mountain, find a guru and sit in the lotus position with our eyes closed for thirty days until we have gained enlightenment.
This is where we’ve gotten a bit off track.
Here are just few of the Benefits of Connectedness with Nature and Meditation done right ~
· More focus, allowing you to accomplish more in a shorter period of time (Like make more $ or spend time with your family)
· Significantly reduce your stress levels
· Lower your blood pressure
· Control your thoughts and behaviors
· Improve your relationships
· Improve your confidence
· Improve you health
· Improve you income
· Improve your outlook on life
The good news is that it’s a lot simpler than you think.
Without trying to oversimplify it, meditation really boils down to this:
Slow down.
Breath.
Allow yourself to be aware of your thoughts without labels or judgment. Simply Be (Present in the Moment).
Sounds simple right? It is. But it’s not necessarily easy. With all the noisy, busy, negative influences and energy going on all around us in the modern world, sometimes our “Tuner” can only pick up cacophony and static. This is where Nature comes to the rescue.
Just like a hundred feet of mountain stream over rocks is enough to purify and restore its waters, when under the influence of Nature, the soul benefits much the same.
